Dressed for success at the GQ and REN Skincare Event, Istanbul.

I wanted to share with you my experience at the GQ event on Saint Valentine’s Day. I felt so honoured meeting some of the most influential people in the male grooming sector. And everybody dressed fierce… Even I managed to ‘bring it’ for the evening ‘-)

The event was a first of its kind. A new partnership between GQ and REN Skincare in Turkey. The event was held in a fabulous little boutique hotel, The House Hotel. I will certainly be staying here the next time I find myself in Istanbul. This event was my first attempt at presenting REN Skincare to an exclusive male audience.

The focus for the event was to introduce the concept of REN Skincare to the GQ readers and how the brand works to promote healthier skin. Even men deserve a chance to ‘clean’ up their act. For the event I had to change the language slightly as men don’t call products by their true names like women do, so cleansers would become facewash and exfoliator becomes scrub. It was hilarious.

The final result of the event… Amazing. Let’s just say that GQ & Turkey will not be forgetting me anytime soon. I pulled out all the stops. Even to the point of playing a naughty film that left most blushing… After all – It was a GQ event…

During the evening I got to meet Editor in Chief, Mirgün Cabas. A fabulous gentleman. We enjoyed a glass of bubbles together and discussed the potential of REN in Turkey and how we could educate the men onto the concept of ‘Clean’ skincare. I thoroughly enjoyed talking to Mirgün, but unfortunately I had to entertain many more guests during the evening and had to cut our conversation short.

I spent most of the evening talking to one of the GQ journalists, Feyza Düzyol. We had such a good laugh. I think the instant connection came when Feyza told me about an article she was currently working on, “How to clean a penis.” I laughed so much that I think I cracked a rib. As I told Feyza, “Brilliant concept. An extremely vital lesson for men to know. One that would be appreciated by both women and gays.” Definitely an article to look out for. Feyza and I are now BFF and will be working together in the near future to bring men the best grooming tips possible.
